Malaysian stocks keep attracting more investors from abroad

  • Категория: News

It looks like Malaysian equities have become the latest trend among foreign investors. They’ve spent USD 82.7 million at the Malaysian stock exchange over the past week, while the previous week witnessed deals worth USD 66.7 million. High demand from abroad has been spotted for the last several weeks. However, it is the first time that the foreigners have spent over USD 73.2 million, which equals over 300 million in the national currency.

Foreign investors conduct deals almost day after day. In 2016, there were 26 weeks of foreign inflows in the country. This year the foreign activity has been registered for 33 weeks totally. So far, the research shows that the total volume of inflows from abroad has reached the threshold of USD 2.38 billion. Analysts outline a couple of reasons for such a high foreign demand. First of all, the Chinese trade data served as a strong promotion of Malaysian stocks. Secondly, intense competition between the Malaysian banking stocks attracts more spectators to the market.
